openjdk-6-jre software package provides OpenJDK Java runtime, using Hotspot JIT, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install openjdk-6-jre
openjdk-6-jre is installed in your system.
Make ensure the openjdk-6-jre package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep openjdk-6-jre *
You will get with openjdk-6-jre package name, version, architecture and description in a table
